Welcome to EWGA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter

Welcome to the website for the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA). EWGA is a national organization of 11,000 members in cities across the U.S. Our chapter consists of 100 members from all over the Bay Area, from San Francisco to Carmel and from the East Bay to the Peninsula.

We offer a wide range of events all over the Bay Area for women; for the beginning golfer, the experienced competitor and those in between. We typically have 2 events per month at a variety of great courses, you can sign up for the ones you want to play and guests are welcome. For those who like to compete, we offer NCGA Associate Club events, team match play tournaments and regional competition leading to EWGA National Events.

EWGA is about fun, friendship, opportunities to play golf and skill development. We hope that renewing members, and new ones, will take full advantage of all that EWGA has to offer.

Come check us out!

  • EWGA Regionals Results!

Our chapter was represented at the Northern California EWGA Championship semi-final this past Saturday, August 20th, at the Red Hawk Resort in Sparks NV. Needless to say, it was over 95 - so kudos to everyone making the long hot trip! We competed with winners from the other 7 EWGA chapters in Northern CA & NV.
1st place low gross and low net in each flight move on to the National Championship at The Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, VA on October 14-15.
Tanya Boysen, the 2015 national champion in her flight, earns an automatic entry this year to that event. She will be joined by 2 more winners from our chapter-
In the Championship flight: Alicia Sinclair won 1st low net (go Alicia!)
In the 3rd flight: Judy Owen won 1st low net (go Judy!)
Other awards went to Kelly Johnson for 2nd low net, Angela LoSasso for 3rd low net and Bridget Albosta for 3rd low net. Other competitors in the field for us included Lorie Hirahara and Belinda Kendle; as well as the scramble team of Laurie Smith, Maureen Murray, Julie McEntee, and Connie Bates who tied for 3rd, one stroke out of the 1st/2nd tie.

Congrats to the whole roster for a great competition!

  • Announcing our CA Cup Team for 2016

Each year our chapter competes in the CA Cup match play tournament against a dozen or so other teams from all over California and Northern Nevada. This year's 2-day tournament (fashioned after the Solheim Cup) will be held at Rancho Canada Golf Club in Carmel on October 22-23.

After 2 rounds of competitive qualifying, we have our team: Alicia Sinclair, Judy Madden, Becky Newhouse, Marcela Tannenbergova, Claiborne Brown, Kelly Johnson, Lorie Hirahara, Christine Lee, Wendy Grossman, Tanya Boysen, Judy Owen and CA Cup captain Julie McEntee.

This team of talented ladies will be practicing over the summer and representing our chapter in the fall, join me in congratulating them!

  • 2016 Chapter Championship Winners!

Our chapter qualifier for the EWGA Championship was held at Santa Teresa on Saturday June 18th and a great sunny, warm (not hot) day it was. First place winners that qualify for the regional semi-final round at Red Hawk Resort in Sparks, Nevada on August 20th include:

    - Championship flight: Alicia Sinclair (1st low gross) and Angela LoSasso (1st low net)
    - First flight: Claiborne Brown (1st low gross) and Kelly Johnson (1st low net)
    - Second flight: Wendy Grossman (1st low gross) and Lorie Hirahara (1st low net)
    - Third flight: Judy Owen (1st low gross) and Cathy Cheung (1st low net)
    - Scramble Team: Laurie Smith, Maureen Murray, Julie McEntee, Connie Bates

As one of last year's EWGA national champions, Tanya Boysen receives an exemption and skips right back to national, let's cheer for some of these teammates to join her!

Wendy Grossman received a new 1st place award for low gross score amongst seniors (55+) with an 83!

Congrats to the whole roster for a great competition!

  • Stacey's Most Excellent Adventure

Last month, our chapter member, Stacey Baba (EWGA Foundation Board member) traveled to Williamsburg Virginia to attend the 25th EWGA Celebration/Conference. She joined over 300 fellow members for over 2 ½ days of golf clinics and play at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. “Unlike previous conferences where they mixed some business and career seminars into the day, this conference was truly all about golf. Every day we played but also had time to sightsee and network with other members”. Key note speakers included Suzy Whaley (incoming PGA of America President), Dawn Hudson (Chief Marketing Officer for the NFL), Nancy Lopez (LPGA Hall of Famer) and a special appearance by former First Lady, Martha Washington. Stacey’s own personal highpoint was playing 9 holes with Nancy Lopez having bid for a spot in an auction to support the EWGA Foundation. “She was so nice, so gracious, everything you hear about her is true, I was absolutely thrilled”. See link for photo.
